The newly formed Convention Coalition of Disabled Persons organisations is seeking a Project Coordinator to facilitate a mechanism for disabled people’s input to the monitoring of disability rights as spelled out in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

This will enable the production of a shadow monitoring report from New Zealand disabled peoples’ organisations and will be achieved through the adaptation of the DRPI framework for the implementation in NZ, facilitation and implementation of the adapted framework, ensuring the process is sustainable into the future.

This position will be full time from late March for six months and will include recruiting interviewers, and overseeing the data analysis in four locations in New Zealand.  Further information can be obtained from Wendi Wicks (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) )

If you are passionate about disability rights, well organised and want to ensure disabled people’s views are known in convention monitoring, this is a chance to make a positive difference.

Electronic applications may be sent to Wendi Wicks by February 26 2010.

Minnie’s presentation on Be Accessibe was truly inspiring. disappointing to see those most in need of ‘enlightenment’ were absent….a great build up for the RWC and way beyond so up to those who did attend to be vocal! and spread the Be word!
