“Our Stories” Film Fest

Published 01 September 2008, Posted in Northland “Our Stories” Film Fest

The response to the “Our Stories” project from Northland has been fantastic. A large number of people viewed the photo exhibition at Reyburn House Art Gallery.

Thanks Northland – you are all invited to attend the stunning “our stories” Film Festival

The response to the school workshops was enthusiastic.  Lots of school students met local people with lived experience of disability in the workshops which were held at the gallery. The students said that the chance to meet someone with a disability and chat to them about their life was the highlight of their experience.

Students from Manaia View and Te Rangi Aniwaniwa Primary have had the opportunity to work with a professional photographer, Bridgit Anderson to produce short DVDs which share the lives of people from within their community who live with disability.

The viewing of the documentaries made by the students will be held at the “Film Fest”,supper will be provided and everybody is welcome to attend this fantastic event.

IHC and CCS Disability Action would like to thank the Northland community and in particular Tiaho Trust for supporting “Our Stories”.

Minnie’s presentation on Be Accessibe was truly inspiring. disappointing to see those most in need of ‘enlightenment’ were absent….a great build up for the RWC and way beyond so up to those who did attend to be vocal! and spread the Be word!
