NorthAble logoJoin the team at NorthAble for afternoon tea and an opportunity to view our range of disability equipment and to listen to a range of guest speakers from the Northland District Health Baord, Tiaho Trust, Northland Regional Council and NorthAble and Healthy Homes Tai Tokerau.

Guest speakers include:

Dr Dianne Davis, How we can all benefit from accessing the new District Health Board Website http://www.healthpoint.co.nz. ‘Healthpoint’ has one simple goal – to help people better understand and use New Zealand health services.

Gail Stacey, Tiaho Trust with a presentation on ‘Spork’, a social network developed by Tiaho Trust for the disability community to meet and make new friends – a safe and supportive on-line environment.

Total Mobility Scheme, a presentation by Northland Regional Council & NorthAble. Total Mobility is a taxi voucher scheme designed to help (eligible) disabled people over 14 years of age by providing a discount on taxi fares in the Whangarei Urban area.

Healthy Homes Tai Tokerau re Home Insulation packages. Healthy Homes Tai Tokerau is a joint venture between two Northland community enterprises with a long history of turning local environmental and social problems into solutions – Community Business and Environment Centre in Kaitaia and He Iwi Kotahi Tatou Trust in Moerewa.

Minnie’s presentation on Be Accessibe was truly inspiring. disappointing to see those most in need of ‘enlightenment’ were absent….a great build up for the RWC and way beyond so up to those who did attend to be vocal! and spread the Be word!
