Interactive Drawing Therapy

Published 30 April 2008, Posted in National Interactive Drawing Therapy

Interactive Drawing Therapy are seeking registrations for foundation courses being run this year.  Interactive Drawing Therapy reveals, heals, moves, fascinates, astounds, awes, and delights! It is also a valuable tool for self-work.

Interactive Drawing Therapy offers training courses to helping professionals and is used in one-to-one and group work by counsellors, psychologists, youth workers, mental health teams, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, corrections officers, alcohol and drug services, specialist education services, school counselors, Aboriginal and Maori service providers, sexual abuse and refuge centres, new immigrant services, stopping violence agencies, chaplains, psychotherapists, social work agencies, hospice staff, and many others.

  • Allows the words, images and behaviours of the client to reveal where they are in their therapeutic process, the nature of the underlying issues and how best to intervene - helps you know what to do, and when to do it!
  • Accesses deeply resourceful and wise parts of the unconscious (the level at which deep, far-reaching transformation occurs)
  • Is suited to both short-term crisis work and long-term developmental work, and can be used in simple non-interpretive ways or more intensively at greater depth
  • Does not require drawing ability or artistic talent – stick figures and gingerbread people are fine!
  • Can be used as a sole stand-alone modality or to complement other intervention techniques
  • Works across a range of age and client groups, can be used in individual and group settings, and with couples and families, particularly suitable for cross cultural application as it does not involve counsellor interpretation, can be used with clients who are not verbally or conceptually fluent
  • Provides a powerful and original schema identifying stages of the therapeutic process and appropriate stage-specific interventions
  • Is an easily-learnt, user-friendly therapy which is instantly applicable from the very first day of training.
  • Foundation Courses Below is the schedule for our Foundation Courses. Each unit of the two-unit Foundation Course consists of two full days (8.30 am to 5.00 pm). Minnie’s presentation on Be Accessibe was truly inspiring. disappointing to see those most in need of ‘enlightenment’ were absent….a great build up for the RWC and way beyond so up to those who did attend to be vocal! and spread the Be word!
