‘Have a Go Day’
Published 02 September 2009, Posted in Northland
ParaFed Northland is holding a ‘Have a Go Day’ on Saturday 17 October 2009 at Genesis Energy Kensington Stadium, Western Hills Drive, Whangarei
This will be an excellent opportunity for people with disabilities to come along and have a go at different sports as well as finding out what else is on offer at Paralympic level.
There will be displays showing different sports available, and others that could be included if interest is strong enough. We are hoping to attract enough people along on the day to participate in wheelchair rugby and wheelchair basketball, and if enough people are interested, we are willing to offer coaching in these sports.
Parafed Auckland are sending up some of their wheelchair rugby and basketball players to help out on the day.
Watch for the Rugby and Basketball Legends in attendance also. Handcycles and powerlifting displays will also be present, and our own Brian Froggat, former powerlifting paralympian will be there to offer support.
ParaFed Northland is undergoing a Revitalisation process at present, and is being helped along by Paralympics New Zealand and SPARC funding. We are hoping to become recognised as an organisation which delivers quality sport and recreational opportunities for people with disabilities.

Minnie’s presentation on Be Accessibe was truly inspiring. disappointing to see those most in need of ‘enlightenment’ were absent….a great build up for the RWC and way beyond so up to those who did attend to be vocal! and spread the Be word!
