Free Epilepsy Seminars

Epilepsy Northland LogoEpilepsy Northland invites you to attend one of our free seminars taking place every third Friday of the month for the next three months in Whangarei.

This course empowers you with the knowledge that you are doing the right thing if someone has a seizure in your care. It will help you recognize and understand all types of seizures. The course is suitable for people with epilepsy, their whanau, teachers, carers, nurses, doctors, bus & taxi drivers and the general public.  (Certificate of attendance given)

If you have any new staff members who would benefit from the training please book them in now and we will get them up to speed.  I have arranged these over the lunch hour to give maximum flexibility.

FREE Epilepsy Seminars - Every 3rd Friday of the month until the end of 2009.

Dates: 16th October, 20th November, 18th December
Time: 12noon – 2pm bring lunch, we provide ree tea and coffee
Venue: Suite 5, The Old Town Hall, 71, Bank Street.

Each Seminar will cover…What is epilepsy?  What causes it? Who gets it?    Types of epilepsy. First Aid for different types of seizure.  Seizure Management.  Recognition of epilepsy. Social and educational implications of epilepsy.
Anti-epileptic Drugs, their use and management.

Minnie’s presentation on Be Accessibe was truly inspiring. disappointing to see those most in need of ‘enlightenment’ were absent….a great build up for the RWC and way beyond so up to those who did attend to be vocal! and spread the Be word!
