Book cover of No Going Back“No Going Back” by Mhairi Collins

A true story of the journey to recovery from traumatic brain injury.

Mhairi was severely injured in a crash in which her partner and one of her sons died.  Mhairi is a founder member of the Brain Injury Association Northland and has served on our committee as Secretary.

She has generously gifted the book to us to raise both funds and awareness of the hidden struggle faced by the “hidden” nature of brain injury effects.

The book launch will take place on Sunday 31st May at 12noon at The Piggery, 42 Walton St, Whangarei.

From the back cover of ‘No Going Back’ by Mhairi Collins:

Losing one of my limbs would be a traumatic experience but I would know what I had left to live with.  I would still be able to make my own decisions and plan for the future.

If they told me I had terminal cancer I cannot even imagine how devastated I would feel.  Yet I would still be able to use all my spiritual, emotional, mental and physical forces I had spent my life building, to guide me.

Through the Torrid times I would be able to draw on my known strengths, experiences and memories, to carry me over the difficult life situations ahead of me.  I would still know WHO I was, WHERE I was going and WHAT I had to work with.

Minnie’s presentation on Be Accessibe was truly inspiring. disappointing to see those most in need of ‘enlightenment’ were absent….a great build up for the RWC and way beyond so up to those who did attend to be vocal! and spread the Be word!
