Arthritis NZ honours volunteers

Published 05 December 2007, Posted in Northland / 2 Comments Arthritis NZ honours volunteers

Arthritis NZ Northland recently held a function to honour the many volunteers that support their organisation by providing help at fundraising events, seminars and the numerous other activities that Arthritis NZ is involved in.  Francesca Holloway, Regional Manager for Arthritis NZ gave Community Awards to Els Dutton (RLG) from Whangarei and Pat Tohu from Maungaturoto, thanking them for their continuous help and support.

Arthritis NZ welcomes new volunteers saying that we wouldn’t be able to do the work that we do without them.  Maree Douglas who helps co-ordinate the volunteers says that “There is always a lot of fun and laughter and it is nice to give to those who help us, that is why I volunteer.”  Maree has osteoarthritis and participates in Arthritis NZ exercise and support groups.  She says that attending these groups give you the opportunity to share and support each other - whether it be laughs, experiences or groans and moans

Tiaho Trust was delighted to be invited to this event and proud to support Arthritis NZ Northland.

Minnie’s presentation on Be Accessibe was truly inspiring. disappointing to see those most in need of ‘enlightenment’ were absent….a great build up for the RWC and way beyond so up to those who did attend to be vocal! and spread the Be word!
