Arthritis NZ Fybromyalgia meeting

Published 21 May 2007, Posted in Northland

Saturday 12th May 2007 saw the Arthritis NZ hosting yet another successful meeting, this time on Fibromyalgia.

Maggie Philip, Arthritis Educator welcomed the guest speaker Dr Grant Thompson, Musculoskeletal Physician, Whangarei. He covered the classification of Fibromyalgia, associated symptoms, signs and conditions. He also discussed the fact that there is no gold standard pathology or other test, some of the causes of fibromyalgia, research findings, and treatment.

Dr Thompson finished off the talk by demonstrating on volunteer Mrs Jill Hayes, explaining the benefits of having a strong core stability and how to achieve that.

Overall it was a very successful event for those who attended.

A reminder that the next Fibromyalgia Support Group meeting in Whangarei is on the 19th June at Markwick House Norfolk St, Whangarei. For the time please phone Sue Baker, Arthritis New Zealand Service Centre Coordinator on 09 438 5037

Minnie’s presentation on Be Accessibe was truly inspiring. disappointing to see those most in need of ‘enlightenment’ were absent….a great build up for the RWC and way beyond so up to those who did attend to be vocal! and spread the Be word!
