Would you like to help trial Statistics New Zealand’s Disability Survey?
What’s it all about?
Every five years, Statistics NZ surveys people with disabilities to get a better picture of the well-being of all New Zealanders. This survey collects important information that Government and community organisations use to make decisions that affect everyone living with a disability, including their families and carers.
Statistics NZ wants to test the survey to make sure the questions are easy for everyone to understand and answer. We will do this testing between February and April 2010.
Would you like to help?
We are looking for people aged 15 years and over who would like to help us improve the questionnaire. If you have a disability or look after a disabled child, we would like to talk to you. We are looking for people with impairments that have lasted, or are expected to last, six months or more. This can be, for example, a physical, hearing, or vision impairment or a mental health condition.
What’s involved?
We will hold interviews in the Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch regions. Someone from Statistics NZ can visit you, or you can come to our office to answer questions about our surveys. The date and time can be arranged to suit you. The interview will last about an hour, and we will give you vouchers to cover travel expenses and to thank you for your help. Information you give us in the interview will be kept confidential.

Minnie’s presentation on Be Accessibe was truly inspiring. disappointing to see those most in need of ‘enlightenment’ were absent….a great build up for the RWC and way beyond so up to those who did attend to be vocal! and spread the Be word!
