We have been notified by John Ward from the Electoral Enrolment Centre in Whangarei that to ensure that the Deaf community are supported to vote, there will be several accessible polling places in the Whangarei area that will have interpreters/communicators available if they have any questions.

The interpreters/communicators will be situated at polling booths in the following areas:

  • Mangapai at the Mangapai Hall, corner McAlister and Mangapai Roads
  • Raurimu School, Onerahi at the Raurimu Avenue School, Raurimu Avenue
  • One Tree Point at the One Tree Point School, One Tree Point Road
  • Tamatarau at the Tamaterau Hall, Whangarei Heads Road

Thankyou to the Deaf Association for passing this information on to us.

Minnie’s presentation on Be Accessibe was truly inspiring. disappointing to see those most in need of ‘enlightenment’ were absent….a great build up for the RWC and way beyond so up to those who did attend to be vocal! and spread the Be word!
