Well it is only 31 days to go before we vote in our next general election.

It is important that you take part in these elections to have your say about who makes the decisions that ultimately effect you, your family and your community.

To help you find out how much knowledge the parties and candidates have about disability and disability issues, Tiaho has posted some links to websites that have interviews with candidates discussing topics such as individualised Funding, Advocacy and carers issues.

Parent 2 Parent Sibling Camp

There is a sibling camp being held for siblings in the Auckland/Northland region on the 14th - 16th November at the YMCA Shakespear Lodge Shakespear Regional Park Whangaparaoa.

This weekend is for children and young adults who have, or have had, brothers or sisters with disabilities.  The aim of the weekend is to provide siblings with an experience that will assist them to cope with the challenges of living with a brother or sister who has a disability or special needs.

‘tips for autism’

‘tips for autism’ will again be available throughout New Zealand in 2009.

‘tips’ is a course where up to six teams of people supporting a child with autism spend four days developing interventions and plans to support their particular child.  This year (2008) there have been 13 courses to the teams around 80 children with ASD (about 500 people).
