Background to Spork.
Spork is a fun and educational social network website targeted towards people of all ages and skill levels and aims to build knowledge and understanding about communicating using modern Internet technology.

Spork is a proactive learning tool that seeks to engage and support participation in building friendships with other Spork members. Spork is a invite only network and is moderated by Tiaho Trust to ensure a safe and trouble free experience.

Spork is also for collaborating with other educational organisations and provides opportunity to share knowledge and resources and ake part in discussions of topical interest.

Why did we develop Spork?, Through working on the Empowerment On Line Project where we encouraged and facilitated disabled people to use internet technology, we realized there was a need for a simple social networking tool. While there is a large range of web based social networking applications such as Facebook and Bebo, there wasnt anything we found that was suitable, that wasn’t filled with advertising and could be centrally moderated.

If you would like to join Spork please contact us. or phone 09 430 3406 for an invitation.

The video below shows students being filmed by Attitude TV who are taking part in ICT training on Spork at Tikipunga High School.
