We provide information, education and support for people with MS and their families, encouraging a proactive approach to managing this disease.

Our area extends from Wellsford, coast to coast, through to Cape Reinga.

The services we provide include:

  • Home visits
  • Support and information to you and your family about your condition or in your role as caregiver
  • Educates you, your family and other allied health professionals about MS and related disorders
  • Advocates for you with other support agencies and health professionals
  • Informs you on services available in the community
  • Provides educational material, books, videos, cds etc from the MS Office
  • Hold Support Groups for those with MS in Whangarei, Kaikohe/Kerikeri, Dargaville plus a Carers’ Group in Whangarei
  • Free physiotherapy class every Monday 11am -12noon at the Kensington Gym.  This is run by a registered physiotherapist.

As the Office Administrator is available 20 hours a week, an answer phone is in place to take calls.  Urgent contact can be made directly through the Field Officer/Educator’s cellphone.

I started working with the Northland Multiple Sclerosis Society in May 2008.

I have had many years experience in the Health industry in a “hands on” and Management capacity and therefore empathise with those who have been affected by MS.

My role with Northland Multiple Sclerosis Society includes office administration, fundraising, supporting the Field Officer and clients in any way I possibly can.

My office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 9am - 2.30pm.  Please feel to call anytime and leave a message if we are not in.

Field Officer

Hi my name is Kathy Beals. I am a New Zealand Registered General and Obstetric Nurse (NZRGON) and I have been involved with Northland Multiple Sclerosis since 1995,

Principally my role is Field Officer/Educator for the Society, although I had an 18 month break in this period of time.

I am passionate about supporting and advocating for people with MS in Northland.  If you would like to access any of the above services please do get in touch with me.

All the above Field Officer service are provided free of charge.
