CCS Disability Action
CCS Disability Action Northern Region covers the Auckland and Northland areas.
We administer and issue Mobility Parking Permits to allow people with limited mobility to more easily access their communities.
We work towards connecting people with disabilities with the life opportunities that everyone might reasonably expect.
We work in partnership and alongside you and your family/whanau to identify opportunities, remove barriers and access the skills and resources necessary for you and your family to live the life you want:
- belonging in a family / whanau
- learning
- having friends and relationships
- having choices about where you live
- having meaningful work and leisure opportunities
- participating in the community
- belonging culturally and spiritually in a way that has meaning to you
Some examples of our work:
- lobbying and advocating so that children can attend their local school or a school of their choice
- assist with choices for when you leave school
- providing a child respite service to families
- finding paid employment for people with disabilities
- supporting people to live independently in a suitable place and with the right support.

Community Development Coordinator Project Support
I have two roles at CCS Disability Action; one in Administration which focuses on the Mobility Parking Permit scheme. This scheme enables people with mobility impairments to access and contribute to their communities through designated mobility parking spaces allocated by local councils. Application forms for the permits may be obtained by phoning or calling into our office and we can also issue the permits if you come in with the completed form and payment. This service is available between 9.00am and 4.30 pm weekdays.
My other role is in Community Development, which involves working alongside disabled individuals and local councils to make communities more inclusive. I am a member of the Disability Sector Reference Group established by the Whangarei District Council. The group meets six weekly and provides an advisory role to the district council on matters affecting people with disabilities.
I work Monday to Thursdays, between 9.00am and 2.30 pm.
