Doves Tail

Dove’s Tail is the commercial division of Tiaho Trust.  We are involved in providing travellers with specific needs with information about operators, providers, facilities and events that understand what it means to be accessible.

Dine at Mates Rates for MS - and Win!

Simply hold a dinner party for your friends…but make it tasty!  The value they place on your meal could win you a $10,000 Shopping Spree at KITCHEN THINGS!

A team is comprised of two people who invite as many people as they wish to a dinner party at their home. As the hosts, you will buy the relevant ingredients and cook a three course meal comprising entrée, main and dessert.  Guests bring their own alcohol.

At the end of the evening the guests decide the value each course and pay that amount to the hosts. The total amount paid is then donated to the MS Society of NZ.

Alzheimers Society Northland Gala Dinner

Join us for an evening of fine wine, fine dining and fine music on Saturday 28th May at Barge Showgrounds Events Centre at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.

The evening includes a five course degustation menu and complimentary champagne. Masterchef NZ Judge Simon Gault and his Nourish Group have thrown their support behind this event.  Shane Yardley, and New Zealand’s finest Maitre’d, Robert Johnston will be hosting this dinner.

Every cent of the money raised will go towards educating and supporting people with dementia, their carers, family and whanau throughout Northland.

Arthritis New Zealand Services in Northland

2011 was always going to be significant for Arthritis New Zealand.  Changes in our health system combined with challenges in the New Zealand fundraising sector, resulted in our decision to review services and the where and how services are provided. This is never an easy task and changing services is difficult and often controversial.

Disabled have say about UNCRPD

On April 20th the Human Rights Commission, in conjunction with Tiaho Trust held a Hui to explain and discuss the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which New Zealand recently signed and ratified.

The Hui was well attended by a mix of disabled people, their whanau/carers and other interested community members.

Workshops were held to discuss the key human rights issues experienced, and what needs to be done in Northland to create an equal and accessible society.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Information and Support

MEISS Whangarei – Myalgic Encephalopathy Information and Support Service, is for people affected by ME/CFS.  CFS is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and is another name for this disease.

We also include those caring for people with ME/CFS, those with fibromyalgia, another very similar disease, those with Chronic Chemical Sensitivity and all medical people with an interest in the subject. We cover the whole of the North, having members in Kaikohe, Kaitaia and Dargaville.

Carter’s Paihia Run/Walk

Halberg Trust and Westpac are working in partnership to support disabled people to participate in active sport and leisure. Westpac will pay the entry fee for participants who have a disability and their caregiver to enter the Carter’s Paihia Run/Walk on 29th May 2011.

The Bay of Island provides a stunning back drop for this really fun event. You have the option of either a 6km walk or an 8km run. There is no cost to participants with disabilities who pre-register. Westpac covers the entry fee for you and your support person if you need one.
